Getting Started with Your Cisco Phone

Overview

This guide provides instructions on how to use your Cisco phone, including making and receiving calls, transferring calls, forwarding calls, and managing voicemail.


How To: Calls

Make a Call

  • Lift the handset or press the Speaker button.

  • Dial the internal extension or full number, then press Call.

  • To call a local number: Dial 8 + [7-digit number].

  • To call a long-distance number: Dial 8 + 1 + [area code] + [number].

Answer a Call

  • Pick up the handset.

  • Or press Answer on the screen.

  • Or press the Speaker button.

Transfer a Call

  • During a call, press Transfer.

  • Dial the recipient’s number.

  • Press Transfer again to complete.

Forward Calls

  • Press the Forward All button on your Cisco phone.

  • Enter the number to forward your calls to:

    • For internal extensions, dial the 4-digit extension.

    • For external numbers, dial 8 + [number] as you would for a normal call.

  • A confirmation tone will sound, and the display will show Forwarded to [number].

  • To cancel call forwarding, press Forward All again.

Emergency Calls

  • Dial 911 or 8 + 911 from any Cisco phone.


Accessing & Managing Voicemail

Voicemail Access

  • Press the Messages button on your Cisco phone.

  • Enter your PIN + # when prompted.

  • If you are unsure of your PIN, contact IT by submitting a Help Desk ticket at https://dlc.hesk.com/.

Set Up Voicemail Greeting

  • Log into voicemail.

  • Press 4-1, then press 1 to record your Standard greeting.

  • To record or activate an Alternate greeting, press 4-1-2 and follow the prompts.

Record Your Name

  • Log into voicemail.

  • Press 4-3-2.

  • Follow the prompts to record your name.

Listen & Manage Messages

 

  • Use the voicemail menu to listen, save, or delete messages as needed.
