How to Forget a Wireless Network
Overview
If you’re having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi or need to remove an old network from your device, you may need to “forget” the wireless network. This clears saved connection details so you can reconnect with fresh settings.
Important:
Users with laptops must perform this process every time they change their computer password. Windows stores your old credentials for secure wireless networks, and forgetting the network forces it to prompt for your new password.
For Windows 11
-
Click the Start button and select Settings.
-
Select Network & Internet.
-
Click Wi-Fi.
-
Click Manage known networks.
-
Find the Wi-Fi network you want to remove.
-
Click Forget.
After Forgetting the Network
When you reconnect, Windows will treat the Wi-Fi network as new and ask for the password again. This step is required after changing your computer password to ensure your Wi-Fi credentials are updated.
